NUSS Guild House membership

It was a good treat with good company last night @ the NUSS Guild House at SPE. Very kind of a friend to treat both the SH and myself for my birthday. We enjoyed the chat so much that we didn't even realised it was close to 1030p.m! Fantastic food. wonderful company and a good walk around the area with the SH after that.

Part of the time was spent studying the membership offer. NUSS membership is opened not just to NUS grads but for grads in recognised universities. The membership per year is $4000 now till 20th March. On top of that, the membership comes with a new Netbook and $400 worth of F&B credits. The fee will be raised to $ 10 000 after 20th March 2010, not to mention that members will have to pay a monthly maintaining fee.

Today, while catching up with 2 of my ex-colleagues, one of them, a recent NTU grad mentioned that it's just $2000 for a newly graduated student. (ohoh! THe other ex-colleague just got proposed to with a 0.65 carat Tiffany ring costing 9k! She said the 1carat one cost $20 000!!!). Even though I am not into solitaires, that was a pretty ring all right.

Conclusion: NUSS Guild House seems really desperate for members. The restaurant is opened to public so unless there are facilities that one uses regularly, there is really no need to sign up to be a member. Unless you have too much money to spare and want the NUSS Guild House decal on your car. Hiak hiak.
