So I spent 3 hours of my Friday evening getting ready to meet my kids' parents, emceeing the event and talking to them personally in the classroom.
A few parents came up to speak with me after I had spoken to them. One kinda pleaded with me to speak to his son because his son has not spoken to him since he was in Primary 2! (4 years!!) Another came up to me and told me his life story as a gangster back in his secondary school days (He's a tattooist! - maybe he will give me a discount IF I ever get a tattoo)
And so, I had to speak with the boy today. The reason why he stopped talking to his dad was because his dad threw away his pet (a fish) when he was in Primary 2. I wonder how kids could be that highly sentimental and emotional at 8 year old (and bore a grudge for 4 years). Maybe it was another reason that he couldn't quite remember. The dad's breath reeked of beer that night.
He seemed to be receptive to what I suggested he could do to make peace with the Dad. Shall follow up tomorrow.
