is not good because
- of the ridiculous parking arrangement.
If you stay for 1 night, you only get complimentary parking for 1 car. The other has to pay - $6 for the first hour and $2 for the subsequent hour, capped to a maximum of $20! It's $4 an entry after 7p.m. I paid $22 by the time I went out of RWS! Bleah! Even though it's the management decision to charge the parking as such, HARD ROCK Hotel could have absorbed the cost to make the stay a happier one right?
- no bathtub in the hotel room.
- the hotel was pretty empty but they didn't give us the room with the balcony.
- No brekkie with the room -> I booked online.
- Design of toilet not thoughtful at all (designers prolly not gay)
- smell of a new hotel -> they should have put some aromatherapy stuff in the room.
- Defective paintwork.
- No Hard Rock Hotel feel -> too elegant.
- Securty is pretty laxed. Non-guests can go all the way up to the hotel room without the access card.
- inflexible restaurant staff -> i booked dinner for 4, alfresco dining overlooking the Rock Pool and they didn't say it wasn't impossible/they will try their best. But the waiters that day said the alfresco dining area had to be closed because they had to prepare for an event the next day (which didn't happen before 2p.m. since we checked out then).
What's good?
- waiters and waitresses were attentive enough. Our glasses were always full and plates always taken away to make space for new ones.
- The buffet at 39 ++ was value for money for the fresh oysters and variety of food and dessert.
- They sang a birthday song for J with a big slice of chocolate cake, maintaining the HRC tradition.
- The place was so empty that the SH and I had the pool area to ourselves (big big area but shared by 4 hotels). That was awesome.
Verdict: Quincy Hotel wins hands down and is the much preferred hotel.. The 1 time experience @ Hard Rock Hotel is good though. Visitors prolly should wait for everything to be in place so they will enjoy the stay more, but it was good for the SH and I because it was pretty empty despite news announcing that all hotel rooms are booked up. Advertising gimmick I think.
Got to get dressed for dinner. BLeah.
